On June 1st, the Government School in Sringeri, where the 34th Shankaracharya of Sringeri, Jagadguru Sri Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji had pursued his early education in His Poorvashrama, has been revitalized from this academic year with the blessings of the Ubhaya Jagadgurus of Sringeri.
This historic institution, formerly an Anglo-Vernacular School and later a Government Boys’ School traces its roots to the system of public instruction established in Mysore State in 1857. The school, which was facing the possibility of closure due to steadily declining student strength, has been adopted and rejuvenated under the Sringeri Math's initiative "Jagadguru Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Jnanadhama".
Several facilities have now been introduced, including smart classrooms, a computer lab, free bus service for students from remote areas, spoken English classes, and other academic support systems.
The ceremony was celebrated in a festive atmosphere with Sringeri Math CEO and Administrator, Guru Seva Nirata Sri PA Murali with the participation of students, teachers, Block Education Officers, and other prominent members of the local community.
